The operator fixes the fracture part with his two hands. Under the condition of continuous traction, the assistants slightly swing the distal part leftward and rightward, and upward and downward. The operator feels the condition of apposition through hands, then squeezes and presses along the longitudinal axis; if there is no shortening in fracture part, it means the fracture is of good apposition. This is used for examination of the effect after reduction of transverse fracture, and for incarceration of fracture ends.
