The method is, for treatment of dysfunction of rotation of joints, a manipulation to make the joint passively rotate and sway. It is often used combining with flexing-extending method. The operator holds the proximal part of the joint with one hand and the distal limb with the other hand, and makes it rotate and sway. The range of movement should be determined according to the range of functional activity of the joint. The lying position should be taken when waist rotation is done. The operator pushes the shoulder with one hand and pulls the hip with the other hand, making the waist rotate by using opposite forces. This method is also called obliquely pulling method. Besides lying position, sitting or standing position may also be taken. The method can relax adhesion of soft tissues around joints, and is suited for articular rigidity and slight articular olisthy.
