(1) Drug Therapy
1) Internal Medicine
a. Retention of food in the stomach
Therapeutic Methods: To help digestion and relieve stagnation, normalize the function of the stomach and subdue the adverse.
Prescription: Modified Bao He Wan
b. Heat-damp in summer attacking the stomach
Therapeutic Methods: To relieve summer-heat and normalize the function of the stomach, remove dampness to stop pain.
Prescription: Modified Huoxiang Zhengqi Powder
c. Cold-evil attacking the stomach
Therapeutic Methods: To warm the middle energizer and dispel heat, normalize the function of the stomach to stop pain.
Prescription: Modified Liangfu Wan and Guizhi Tang
d. Flaming of the stomach-heat
Therapeutic Methods: To clear away heat and relieve pain, subdue the adverse and promote defection.
Prescription: Dahuang Huanglian Xiexin Tang
e. Liver depression and stagnation of qi
Therapeutic Methods: To soothe the liver and regulate qi, normalize the function of the stomach to stop pain.
Prescription: Modified Sini Powder and Xiaobanxia Tang
2) External Medicine
a. Get moderate scallion stalks, pound and fry them until they are hot; apply the paste on the navel; then fix it with the adhesive plaster ; change it once a day and take it for several days continuously.
b. Get a small section of the liquorice (3-5g) and pound it into a paste; apply it on the Liangqiu on the right side or press the Liangqiu directly; each time for 5 minutes.
c. Most of the Chinese medicine for application which is used for treating the stomachache are spicy and warm in nature; they are good for warming the meridians and dispelling cold, activate the blood circulation to remove the blood stasis and regulating qi to stop pain; the medicine for common use include monkhood, dry ginger, cinnamon, fructus amomi, evodia rutaecarpa, safflower, mastix, the root of the three-nerved spicebush, rhizoma cyperi, dry tangerine peel, scallion stalk , musk, etc. Mix the above drugs according to the prescription and grind them into the fine powder; mix the powder with the ginger juice or honey or the medical Vaseline to get the cream; apply it on the Zhongwan. Neiguan (PC6), Hegu (LI 4), Zusanli (ST 36), etc. to treat the cold coagulation and stagnation of qi, insufficiency-cold of the spleen and stomach, stagnation of extravagated blood; and it will with satisfactory result.
(2) Massage Therapy
1) Selected Points: Zusanli (ST 36), Zhongwan, Pishu (BL20) and Weishu (BL21).
2) Manipulation: Press each point for 3-5 minutes until the sensation of sour, swelling, numbness and pain is gained; take it for 2-3 times a day.
(3) Guasha Therapy
Selected Points: Pishu (BL20), Weishu (BL21), Zhongwan, Tianshu (ST25), Neiguan (PC6), Shousanli (LI 10), and Zusanli (ST 36)
Manipulation: Keep an angle of 45 degree between the scraping board and the skin; scrape the points orderly from up to bottom or from inside to outside; it is regulate qi, dispel cold and normalize the function of the stomach to stop pain; the strength should make the patients feel comfortable; scrape repeatedly until reddish rashes appear on the skin.
(4) Cupping Therapy
Selected Points: Zhongwan, Tianshu (ST25), Dazhui, Pishu (BL20), Weishu (BL21)
Manipulation: The patients with a supine position and choose moderate jar; take cupping on the Zhongwan and Tianshu; keep the cups sucked in place for 10-15 minutes; take the prostrate position and take cupping as the above on the Dazhui, Pishu and Weishu; the points are added or reduced according to the symptoms; take it once a day and 10 times for a course of treatment.
(5) Foot Massage
Basic Reflection Zone: Stomach and duodenum.
Related Reflection Zone: Spleen and brain.
Symptom Reflection Zone: The lymph gland in the upper body and the lymph gland in the lower body
Course of the Reflection Therapy: 10~15 times for one course of treatment, 30-40 minutes for one time, and 1-2 times a day. Take rest for 1-2days between two courses of treatment. During this period, put the feet in pale salt water to recover the sensitivity of the feet to massage.
