The principle of Tuina therapy is regulating qi, activating blood and regulating Yin and Yang.
(1) The patient sits. And the doctor stands behind the patient, supports the patients’ shoulder with one han, and pushes and scrubs with the palm of the other hand obliquely from the superior part of the chest along the middle apart of the two braests downward for 1-3 minutes.
(2) Digitally-press Danzhong (CV17) for one minute.
(3) Palm-twist and rub the hypochondriac regions with both hands for 3-5 minutes.
(4) Press-knead Shenshu (BL23) and Mingmen (GC4) first with a finger for one minute each, and then scrub this area horizontally with a palm until a hot sensation is attained.
(5) Press-knead Ganshu (BL 18) and Sanjiaoshu (BL22) for one minute each.
(6) The patient lies in supine positino, and the doctor pinches and grasps the medial muscles of the thigh 5-10 times, and then pushes and scrubs the medial and the lateral aspects of the four limbs until a hot sensation is attained.
(7) Digitally-press Waiguan (TE5), Quchi (LI 11), Zusanli (ST 36) and Sanyinjiao (SP6) for one minute respectively.
Modified manipulations with syndrome differentiation
(1) For patents with restlessness and insomnia in this case, besides the basic manipulations, digitally-press Shenmen (HT 7) and Xinshu (BL15) for 1.-3 minutes respectively, and palm-twist and scrub Yongquan(KI 1) for 3-5 minutes
(2) For patients with skin itching in this case, in addition to the basic manipulations, digitally-press Xuehai (SP 10) and Baichongwo(1cun above Xuehai) for 1-3 munites respectively.
(3) Besides the manipulations mentioned above, patients with menopausal syndrome may practice self-Tuina to prevent and treat it according to symptoms, such as regulating acupoint Danzhong(CV17), relaxing the scalp skins, soothing the chest oppression, dispersing intercostal stagnation, regulating the tripe energizer, nourishing the heart.
