Raynaud's disease is a condition that causes some areas of your body -- such as your fingers, toes, tip of your nose and your ears-- to feel numb and cool in response to cold temperatures or stress. It's a disorder of the blood vessels that supply blood to your skin. During a Raynaud's attack, these arteries narrow, limiting blood circulation to affected areas. In TCM, this disease is included in the Bi syndrome, cold extremities, pain of the limbs or numbness of limbs, which is treated with herbs for warming meridians and expelling cold evil.

Treatment
1. Tongmai
It is an extra point on the lumbar region, cross point between the vertical line through Baihuanshu (UB30) and the horizontal line through Huanzhong, middle point between Huantiai (GB30 and Yaoshu (DU2). Lay on the stomach with legs stretched, be inserted perpendicularly on Tongmai with a long filiform needle to the bone, then manipulated by lifting, thrusting and rotating methods to induce a stronger needling sensation downward to the foot.

2. Zusanli (ST36)
A 2 cun filiform needle is employed to puncture perpendicularly the points bilaterally by lifting, thrusting and rotating methods to induce arrival of qi or by the method of setting mountain fire, remained for 30 minutes during which it is manipulated every ten minutes, done once a day or every other day for 30 times as a therapeutic course.
Sanyinjiao (SP6)
It is used by point injection on Sanyinjiao (SP6) with Salvia miltiorrhiza injecta or Mailuoning injecta at amount of from 0.5 to 1 ml each point, once daily for 10 times as a therapeutic course.

Note
Acupuncture therapy is effective in adjusting vasoconstriction and vasodilation so that it can be used to treat Raynaud's disease. Combination with moxibustion will promote the effect of the acupuncture treatment.
