[Location] Localized in the erect sitting position or prostrate position, or in the lateral recumbent position. Posterior to the lobule of ear, in the depression between the angle of the mandible and the mastoid process. (Fig.21)
 
[Regional Anatomy] Skin→subcutaneous tissue→parotid. Superficial layer, the distribution of the great auricular nerve and the subordiantial ramus of the external jugular vein; deeper, the posterior auricular artery, which is the subordiantial ramus of the external carotid artery, and the facial nerve.
