Acupuncture Point Yangjiao (GB35)
Location:
Upright sitting or lateral position; on the lateral side of the shank, 7 cun above the tip of lateral malleolus, on the posterior border of fibula.
Function:
Normalizing the functions of the liver and gallbladder, relieving convulsion and expelling wind.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-triceps muscle of calf-long peroneal muscle-posterior intermuscular septum-long extensor muscle of toes.
In the superficial layer, there is the lateral sural cutaneous nerve. In the deep layer, there are the peroneal artery and vein, the posterior tibial artery and vein, and the tibial nerve.
Indications:
Fullness of the chest and hypochondriac region, muscular atrophy and paralysis of the leg.
Prescription:
Combined use with XuanzhongGB39 (Xuanzhong (GB39) Influential Point of the Marrow) for treatment of peroneal paralysis; with HuantiaoGB30 (Acupuncture Single Point Huantiao (GB30 )) for treatment of sciatica; and with JiexiST41 (Jiexi (ST 41) Jing-River Point) for treatment of severe palpitation due to fright.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 1-1.5 cun depth; needling response: local numbness and distention, radiating downward; moxibustion: using 5-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
