Acupuncture Point Chengguang (BL6)
Location:
Sit upright with one`s back propped; firstly, locate QuchaBL4(Qucha (BL4)), 2.5 cun sagittally posterior to QuchaBL4(BL4).
Function:
Improving acuity of vision and expelling the wind, purging away the heat.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-epicranial aponeurosis.
In the superficial layer, there are the supraorbital nerve and the supraorbital artery and vein. In the deep layer, there are the subaponeurotic loose connective tissue and the pericranium.
Indications:
Leucoma, headache, dizziness, Nasal Polyp, rhinitis, common cold.
Prescription:
Combined use with YintangEXHN3 (EX-HN3), HeguLI4 (Hegu (LI 4) Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of frontal sinusitis; with TaiyangEXHN5 (EX-HN5), FengchiGB20 (Acupuncture Single Point Fengchi (GB20)) for treatment of glaucoma; and with DaduSP2 (Dadu (SP 2) Ying-Spring Point) for treatment of vomiting.
Methods:
Insert the needle horizontally 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response:local sensation of distension and heaviness; moxibustion: mild moxibustion for10 min.
Note:
Don`t puncture the points on the vertex cap when the patient has foci of infection on his scalp.
