(1) Needling Mainly Tanzhong (CV17)
Points: Penetrating technique from Tanzhong (CV17) to Jiuwei(CV15), Neiguan (PC6), Zusanli (ST 36), Tongli (HT 5), Shenmen(HT 7),
Technique: Apply the penetrating technique from Tanzhong (CV17) to Jiuwei (CV15) under the skin, then insert the needle transversely to a depth of 2.5 to 2.8 cun. Other points are needled with regular acupuncture technique. The treatment was carried out on 621 cases of coronary heart disease and angina pectoris, with a total effective rate of 89.2%.
(2) Choosing Separate Groups of Points
Points:① Jiaji (Ex-B2) point lateral to the spinous process of the 5th thoracic vertebrae, Juque (Ren 14), Xinping [3 cun below Shaohai (HT3)]. ② Jiaji (Ex-B2) point lateral to the spinous process of the 4th thoracic vertebrae, Tanzhong (CV17) and Neiguan (PC6)
Technique: Use the two groups of points alternately, needle the back points with the needle tip pointing toward the vertebrae, and puncture points of the four extremities perpendicularly. A soreness, numbness, distention or traveling sensation should be gained. The needles on the back should be removed after their handles are scraped for two minutes. The needles on the points of four extremities should be retained for 20 minutes. The treatment is given once a day or once every other day, 10 sessions being one course. This treatment was applied in 130 cases of coronary heart disease and angina pectoris, and remarkable effect was found in 32 cases (24.62%), improvement in 73 cases (60%) and no improvement in 20 cases (15.38%). The total effective rate was 84.62%.
(3) Penetrating Technique from Qiuxu (GB40) to Zhaohai (KI 6)
