Points: Zhongwan (Ren 12), Tiweixue [1.5 cun lateral to Shangwan (Ren 13)], Weishangxue [4 cun lateral to Xiawan (Ren 10)]
Technique: Let the patient to lie supine, use two-cun filiform needles, needle points other than Qihai (Ren 6) obliquely downward at a 450 angle to a depth of l to 1.5 cun, and puncture Qihai (Ren 6) perpendicularly to a depth of l.5 cun. The dense-disperse pattern of the electric stimulation should be used. The negative wire should be connected to the needle in Zhongwan (Ren 12) while the positive wire should be split into five and then be connected to the needles in bilateral Tiweixue, as well as to the needles in bilateral Weishangxue and Qihai (Ren 6). The amount of the electric stimulation should be deter-mined upon the contraction of the abdominal muscles and the tolerance of patient. In each treatment, the electric stimulation should be applied 20 to 30 minutes, and the treatment is given once a day. Twelve sessions of the treatment make up one course, with a break of three days between two courses. The total effective rate of three courses of treatment is 77.8%.
