Causes of Phlyctenular Conjunctivitis in TCM
The case may occur only in the bulbar conjunctiva, or simultaneously in the cornea and conjunctiva, and sometimes in the cornea alone. If the lesion is in the bulbar conjunctiva, the case is refered to as phlyctenular conjunctivitis.  If in the corneal margin, it is called phlyctenular keratoconjunctivitis, and it can be defined as phlyctenular keratitis if in the cornea. And phlyctennular ophthelmia is a general term of all. Pathogenetically and etiologically, the disease is a kind of delayed hypersensitivity to the microorganic protein.
