This is an intractable itching in the perineal region and vagina, radiated to medial side of thigh and causing restlessness and profuse discharge of leukorrhea, annoyance, bitter taste inmouth, and dizziness and vertigo. It is caused by spleen deficiency, and accumulation of excessive dampness, the stagnation of liver qi producing heat pathogens, a combination of dampness and heat and downward pouring of damp-heat pathogens; or it may be caused by poor hygiene of external genitalia, sitting on damp ground too long, or a parasite infection in perineal region.
Treatment:
Foot massage: The massage is applied to kidney (22), ureter (23), urinary bladder (24), adrenal gland (21), uterus (50), reproductive gland (36) and vagina (51) reflecting areas. The foot is held by the physician with one hand and the knuckle of the first interphalangeal joint of the other flexed index finger is used to apply massage to the correspondent reflecting areas 3-4 times (Fig. 82).
Foot acupuncture:
Meridianal acupoints: At Zhaohai (KI 6) and Rangu (KI 2) acupoints, a balanced reinforce-reducing acupuncture technique without moxibustion is applied and the needles are retained for 15 to 20 minutes.
External application of drugs:
1) Downward pouring of damp-heat pathogens: The powder of Herba Polygoni Avicularis (Bianxu) 30 gm, Yirenmi (Job's-tears seed) 20 gm, Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae (Niuxi) 20 gm, Dianthus superbus (Qumai) 20 gm, Hydrous magnesium silicate (Huashi) 15 gm, Tetrapanax Papyriferus (Tongcao) 15 gm, Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis (Houpo) is wrapped in the sterilized gauze to make small bags in an adequate size for application on the reflecting areas on foot and changed once every other day. For severe pain, Zhizi (cape-jasmine fruit) and Longdancao (gentian) are added; for weakness of limbs, poor appetite and yellow and greasy tongue coating, Cangzhu (atractylodes rhizome) and Huoxiang (giant-hyssop) may be added; for persistent low fever with abdominal distension, Xingren (apricot kernel), Kouren (nutmeg), Danzhuye (lophatherum), Cangzhu (atractylodes rhizome), Huangbai (amur cork-tree) and Dafupi (areca peel) are added; and for patients with trichomoniasis, Shechuangzi (cnidium) 30 gm is added.
2) Infection of parasites: The powder of Xionghuang (realgar) 1 gm, fresh tobacco leaf 2 gm and small amount of alum is put into the holes of a triangular piece of pig liver (60 gm) for application on the reflectng areas on foot.
