The commonly-seen syndromes of chronic nasal sinusitis include two types: asthenic cold of the lung qi and qi deficiency of the spleen. The syndrome of asthenic cold of the lung qi is characterized by pale complexion and aversion to wind. Treatment should be warming and invigorating the lung qi. The syndrome of qi deficiency of the spleen is marked by anorexia, abdominal distension as well as clear and thin nasal discharge with profuse quantity. Treatment should lie in strengthening the spleen and invigorating qi.
