Epilepsy is divided into epilepsy due to fright, epilepsy due to wind, epilepsy due to phlegm and epilepsy due to blood stasis according to the history, predisposing causes and symptoms in syndrome differentiation. Epilepsy due to fright often has the history of being frightened, and is commonly accompanied by mental symptoms during onset like scream and fear; epilepsy due to wind is mostly induced by exogenous fever, marked by evident clonic convulsion during the onset, or concurrent fever, etc. ; epileptic seizure due to phlegm is marked by mental disorder and often has transient absent-mindedness, fall and objects dropping from the hand as well as hypophrenia, dementia, etc. epilepsy due to blood stasis often has the history of marked craniocerebral trauma and fixed location of headache. Electroencephalogram examination and cerebral tomography may be useful for the diagnosis of the disease.
