Rickets is usually divided into two syndromes of asthenia of the spleen and sthenia of the liver as well as asthenia of both the spleen and kidney according to the symptoms and the course of the disease in syndrome differentiation. The commonly-seen symptoms of asthenia of the spleen and sthenia of the liver include dysphoria, restlessness, night cry, poor appetite, profuse sweat, hypodynamia, susceptibility to fright, muscular flaccidity, taut and thready pulse.
The commonly-encountered symptoms of asthenia of both the spleen and kidney are thin and weak body, lustreless complexion, retardation of dentition, sitting, standing and walking, or skeleton deformity like square skull, pigeon breast, beading of ribs, eversion of ribs and curved lower limbs, pale tongue with a little fur, thready and weak pulse.
