Syndrome differentiation and treatment
The therapeutic principles of rickets are strengthening the spleen, supplementing qi, tonifying the kidney and replenishing nephric essence.

1. Asthenia of the spleen and sthenia of the liver 
 Main symptoms and signs: Dysphoria, restlessness, night cry,susceptibility to fright, poor appetite profuse sweat, hypodynamia, sparse hair, occipital baldness, late closure of fontanel, delayed dentition or with less teeth, muscular flaccidity, light red tongue with thin whitish fur, taut and thready pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Strengthening the spleen and soothing the liver.

2. Asthenia of both the spleen and kidney 
Main symptoms and signs: Thin and weak body,  lustreless complexion, apathy, profuse sweat, flaccid limbs, retardation of dentition, sitting, standing and walking, skeleton deformity like square skull, pigeon breast, beading of ribs, eversion of ribs and curved lower limbs, pale tongue with a little fur, thready and weak pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Tonifying the kidney and nourishing nephric essence.
