Causes of Tuberculous Lymphadenitis in TCM
t is believed in Chinese medicine that this disease is caused by mixture of phlegm and qi due to liver stagnation and spleen deficiency, or by obstruction of the meridians, related to accumulation of phlegm and fire due to yin deficiency of the lung and kidney. Its clinical feature is that in the initial stage, the node is in a size of a bean, neither red nor painful, and gradually enlarges to be a mass, or the nodes are in patches like pearls, with purulent pus as thin as sputum after rupture or mixed with had cotton-like substance. If the wound goes downwards or forms a sinus, it will take a long time and become difficult to heal the wound, and it will form a depressed scar after it is cured. It is similar to tuberculous lymphadenitis in the neck in the Western medicine.
