Causes of Boils on Hand and Foot in TCM
It is believed in Chinese medicine that this problem is mostly caused by infection of pathogenic fire and heat after injury of the hand and foot. Due to different location, form and prognosis, there are different names. For instance, the boil on the tip of the finger is called snake-head boil. The boil on the side of the finger and toe is called snake-eye boil. The boil occurring anterior to the middle section of the finger like a snake belly is called snake-belly boil. The boil on the center of the palm is called salver boil. The boil occurring on the sole of the foot is called sole boil. Respectively, they are similar to suppurative panaris, paronychia, suppurative tenosynovitis of the finger, infection of midpalmar space, subcutaneous abscess of the sole, etc.
