Treatment Based on Syndrome Differentiation:
1. Damp-Heat Accumulation Syndrome
Main Symptoms: Red swelling and burning pain in the infected area, numerous pus dots, tenacious and yellowish purulent fluid, accompanied by high fever aggravated at dusk, stuffy chest, abdominal fullness, poor appetite, brown urine, reddened tongue, yellowish and greasy coating, slippery and rapid pulse.
Therapeutic Methods: Clear away heat, dissipate dampness, dissolve toxin and diminish tumefaction.

2. Fire-Toxin Accumulation Syndrome
Main Symptoms: Protruded red tumefaction in the local area, burning pain, shrunk base, swift suppuration,tenacious and yellow pus, accompanied by fever, thirst,brown urine, constipation, reddened tongue, yellowish tongue coating, rhpid and forceful pulse.
Therapeutic Methods: Clear away heat, expel fire,dissolve toxin and diminish tumefaction.

3. Yin-Deficiency and Fire-Hyperactivity Syndrome
Main Symptoms: Flat tumefaction with diffuse base, purple color in the wound, serious pain, tumefaction difficult to ulcerate, or scanty purulent fluid with little blood after rupture, accompanied by fever aggravated at dusk, dry mouth and throat, profuse drinking and urine, constipated stool, reddened tongue with little body fluid, dry and yellowish tongue coating, thready, wiry and rapid pulse.
Therapeutic Methods   Nourish yin, clear away heat, promote detoxification and diminish tumefaction.

4. Qi-Deficiency and Toxin-Accumulation Syndrome
Main Symptoms: Flat tumefaction with diffuse base, dim and lustreless wound, stuffy and distending and painful sensation, difficult dissolution of purulent decay,or thin purulent fluid in gray dark color after ulceration,empty shell underneath the skin, accompanied by fever,thirst, low spirit, lustreless complexion, slightly red tongue, thin and whitish coating, thready and feeble pulse.
Therapeutic Methods: Benefit qi, heal the wound, promote pus discharge and diminish tumefaction.
