ORIGIN: The seed of Torreya grandis [Taxaceae].
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION: Containing fatty oil, oxalic acid, glucose, polysaccharose, essential oil and tannin. The fatty oil is composed of palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid and glyceride of linoleic acid.
NATURE, FLAVOR AND CHANNEL TROPISM: Sweet in flavor and neutral in nature, acting on the channels of the lung, stomach and large intestine.
EFFICIENCIES AND INDICATIONS: Destroying intestinal parasites, removing stagnancy of indigested food, moisturizing dryness. It is used to treat Stomachache due to enterosistosis, Infantile Malnutrition due to impairment of the spleen and stomach caused by improper feeding, dry cough, Constipation and piles.
DIRECTIONS: To be eaten parched, or decocted for oral use, or used as an ingredient of boluses or powder. Eating parched Chinese torreya regularly will strengthen the muscles, improve eyesight and build up health. Chinese torreya has the laxative action, so those who suffer from deficiency of the spleen and stomach marked by loose stools should not eat it excessively.
