INGREDIENTS
Snow pear, Pyrus nivalis 8
Tendril-leaved fritillary bulb, Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae 12g
polished long-grained glutinous rice, Semen Oryzae Glutinosae 100g
Candied waxgourd strips 100g
Crystal sugar 180g
Alum, Alumen right amount
PROCESS: Have the tendril-leaved fritillary bulb beaten into pieces and the alum dissolved in water (about 2000 ml) for later use. Have the rice washed clean and cooked; cut the waxgourd strips into pellets the size of a soy bean. Have the pears peeled; cut a piece as a cover from the base; remove the stones with a small knife, and then soak the pears in the alum water to prevent them from changing their colour; scald them for a while in boiling water, take them out to cool them in cold water and then drain them. Have the cooked rice, waxgourd pellets and half the amount of the crystal sugar (pounded into powder) mixed thoroughly and put the mixture into the pears, cover them with the cut pieces and put them on a plate; put the plate in a bamboo steamer and steam for about 40 minutes until the pears are thoroughly done. Have the remaining crystal sugar dissolved int0 200 ml of boiling water to make thick extract. Take the pears out from the steamer and pour the extract on the pears one by one.
DIRECTIONS: Take one pear at a time, twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. .
EFFICACY: Moistening the lung, resolving phlegm, and removing fire and heat from the lung.
INDICATIONS: Cough due to consumption; or dry cough, sputum mixed with blood; or lung heat, manifested as cough, Chronic Bronchitis, Asthma and depressed chest, yellowish and thick sputum.
