Only a qualified physician, who has examined a patient and is knowledgeable about the disease, can help manage it so a person with scleroderma can live as long and as normal a life as possible. Localized scleroderma is not life-threatening. Also, many people lead long lives with the forms of scleroderma that affect internal organs. In some cases, it is very important to diagnose dangerous complications of the disease early so patients can be treated for them. These complications include kidney disease, pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) (high blood pressure in the arteries around the lungs), alveolitis (inflammation of the lungs), gastro-intestinal (GI) disease and heart damage.
Instructions:
Onion: Use onion only as a topical application for scleroderma. Your doctor may ask you to avoid eating onions if you are suffering from scleroderma.
To use onion to soften the hardened and toughened skin patches, cut it into half and apply it directly on the affected skin. Massage the onion vigorously on the patches for 30 minutes every day. Alternatively, you can squash some onions, drain the juice in a pan and use a cotton ball or cloth to apply it.
