Health DescriptionHealth Consultation Description: I am a 34 years old, and i will be 35 next week. I was diagnosed with severe
Migraine when i was 14 years old. I have the visual disturbances ( bright zig zag lines), numbness in my face and hands, and confusion. It is really bad. I have dealt with this for so long, and never had a concrete treatment that worked. I was put on Inderal for years, in which it did help where i only had about one every 6-8 months. Then my doctor just yanked me off of them and i was left with nothing. As time has went on, they have gotten worse to the point i have almost had them every day this week. My new doctor put me on metroprolol 25mg ER..and this is day 2. I did have one this morning. Could it be that these have not gotten into my system yet..enough to help prevent..? This is really depressing me badly.

Yes, it's entirely possible that the metoprolol hasn't had time to help yet. It could take a couple of months to know if it's going to work. Also, depending on how your blood pressure does and other factors, if the 25mg dosage doesn't work, your doctor may increase it to see if that helps.
I know how hard it is to wait while we see if preventive medications are going to work for us. Been there many times myself. In fact, I'm in that situation again now. You're definitely not alone.
Please keep me posted, and let me know if we can help with any information or support.

Peppermint Oil: Peppermint is a soothing home remedy that has been shown to benefit tension headaches. This fresh-smelling oil has vaso-constricting and vaso-dilating properties, which help control blood flow in the body. Headaches and migraine pain are often due to poor blood flow, and peppermint oil helps to open and close the vessels that promote flow. Peppermint home remedies also open up the sinuses so that more oxygen can get into the bloodstream.
