Effect
Removing pathogenic heat from the heart, nourishing Yin, promoting diuresis.

Indications
Syndrome due to pathogenic heat accumulated in the Heart Channel and the small intestine, marked by restlessness and hot feeling in the chest, thirst, flushed face, preference for cold drink, aphthae, or dark urine excreted with difficulty and stabbing pain, reddened tongue, and rapid pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as acute infection of the urinary tract, stomatitis and stone of the urinary system.

Ingredients
Radix Rehmanniae (Shengdihuang) 9 g,
Mu Tong (Caulis Aristolochiae Manshuriensis) 6 g,
Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gancao) 6 g,
Lophatherum gracile (Zhuye) 9 g.

Explanation
Sheng Di: The principal drug, being sweet and bitter in flavor and cold in nature, removing pathogenic heat from the blood and nourishing Yin.

Mu Tong: Clearing away pathogenic heat both the the heart Channel and in the small intestine to promote diuresis.

Gan Cao: Removing heat and toxic material, tempering the actions of all the other ingredients.

Zhu Ye: Dispelling pathogenic heat from the heart and relieving restelessness.
