Acupoints, the places where meridian qi converges and transmits, are the points that reflect visceral disorders on the surface of the body. Pressing certain acupoints, according to the changes and reaction of these acupoints, is helpful for diagnosing the disorders of certain viscera.
In pressing acupoints, cares should be taken to see if there are tenderness, nodules and sensitive response. For example, nodules over Feishu (BL 13) and tenderness over Zhongfu (LU 1) usually indicate lung disease; tenderness over Ganshu (BL 18) and Qimen (LR 14) shows liver disease; tenderness over Weishu (BL 21) and Zusanli (ST 36) suggests stomach disease; tenderness over Shangjuxu (ST 37) is usually a sign of intestinal abscess.
