Vessel for Treating the Eyes with Vapor

This vessel,used in Imperial Academy of Medicine,combines a silver pot and a padauk-wood (kongmu) tube.Overall h:30 cm.w:15 cm;pot h:8 cm,mouth d:6.5cm,body d:9.5 cm;tube h:24 cm.On the pot,two opposed semicircular rings serve as handles.The concave semicircle in the lower part of the tube can be fitted into the pot’s mouth.The vessel was used to direct steam vapor toward the eyes.(Collection of Imperial Palace Museum)
