Ingredients:
No.1  Lianzirou (Semen Nelumbinis) 500 g
No.2  Yiyiren (Semen Coicis) 500 g
No.3  Sharen (Fructus Amomi) 500 g
No.4  Jiegeng (Radix Platycodi) 500 g
No.5  Biandou (Semen Dolichos Album) 750 g
No.6  Fuling (Poria) 1,000 g
No.7  Renshen (Radix Ginseng) 1,000 g
No.8  Zhigancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Praeparatae) 1,000 g
No.9  Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) 1,000 g
No.10  Shanyao (Rhizoma Dioscoreae) 1,000 g

Administration:
Grind the above drugs into fine powder, take 6 g each time and twice daily with the decoction of Dazao (Fructus Ziziphi Jujubae). Or prepare them into a decoction with the dosage in proportion to the original recipe.

Actions:
Benefiting qi and strengthening the spleen, eliminating dampness and relieving diarrhea.

Clinical Application:
This recipe is used to treat qi deficiency of the spleen and stomach concomitant with dampness, marked by lassitude of the extremities, general debility, dyspepsia, vomiting or diarrhea, chest distress and epigastric fullness, sallow complexion, pale tongue with whitish and greasy fur, feeble and moderate pulse. It is applicable to chronic gastroenteritis, infantile dyspepsia, anemia, chronic bronchitis, chronic nephritis, leukorrhea and other diseases, which pertain to deficiency of the spleen with dampness.

If concomitant with interior cold manifesting abdominal pain with preference for warmth, add Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis) and Rougui (Cortex Cinnamomi) to warm the middle-energizer and dispel cold. For infantile dyspepsia with poor appetite and flatulence, add Maiya (Fructus Hordei Germinatus ) (baked), Shanzha (Fructus Crataegi) (charred) and Shenqu (Massa Fermentata Medicinalis ) (baked) to promote digestion. In case of phlegm induced by dampness and cough with productive whitish sputum, add Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae) and Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) to remove phlegm by eliminating dampness.

Elucidation:
The syndrome results from disorder in transportation and transformation, and generation of dampness in the interior due to deficiency of the spleen and stomach. It should be treated by means of replenishing qi, strengthening the spleen and eliminating dampness to remove diarrhea. Ingredients No. 7 and No. 9 act together as monarch drugs to benefit qi, strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness. Ingredients No. 10 and No. 1 help No. 7 replenish qi and strengthen the spleen, while No. 5, No. 2 and No. 6 help No. 9 reinforce the spleen and promote diuresis.

These five ingredients together are used as minister drug. Ingredient No. 3 can regulate the stomach and invigorate the spleen, and No. 4 disperses the lung-qi, promote diuresis and lead other drugs upwards to the lung. Ingredient No. 8 is effective in supplementing qi and reinforcing the spleen and capable of mediating the properties of other drugs. These three ingredients serve as guiding drug.
