Character of the tongue: The tongue fur is viscose and turbid, like sore pustule.
Clinical significance: It indicates overflowing of heat-toxicity, or decline of the stomach qi.
Comparison between slimy fur and curdy fur:
Character of the tongue: The slimy fur is fine and dense, with fixed root. The curdy fur is thick and big, with loose root.
Clinical significance: The slimy fur is upward steaming of the stomach qi with the pathogenic dampness-turbidity in the spleen and stomach. It is a sign of excess pathogenic factors and healthy qi. And the curdy fur is undissolved turbidity and debilitation of stomach qi. It is a critical sign of the healthy qi not defeating pathogenic factors.
