Meridian sinew of Hand-YANG MING originates from the back of the second finger and ulnaris back side of thumb, run upward to the back of hand, end radialis back of wrist joint (the main belonging muscles: tendon of stretched the first and second finger, dorsal interossei and lumbrical muscles of the first and second finger). From wrist joint along radialis back of forearm run upward and end outside of radialis elbow joint (the main belonging muscles: extensor digitorum muscle, long radial extensor carpal muscle, musculus extensor carpi radialis brevis, abductor pollicis longus, extensor pollicis brevis). Along elbow joint run upward to outside of upper arm and end acromioclavicular joint of Shoulder Blade (the main belonging muscles: anconeus lateralis, lateral and ventro-trigonal muscle), where the meridian separated, through shoulder-blade run to back and distribute on the back bone (the main belonging muscles: trapezius muscle).
The main branch from acromioclavicular joint upward to neck then to lower mandible (the main belonging muscles: platysma muscle), where the meridian separated to a long one and a short one, the short run upward to face and end nose (the main belonging muscles: distortor oris muscle and apart of quadrate muscle of upper lip group). The long one from lower mandible run upward to frontal angle along the front of meridian sinew of small intestine meridian, then through forehead to opposite side of frontal angle, and end with opposite side of meridian sinew (the main belonging muscles: auricularis anterior on this area, tempotal muscle and the anterior part of tempotal muscle).
Manifestation of disease of the meridian sinew of Hand-YANG MING:
after wind, dampness, cold evil invade this meridian, the muscle which meridian sinew had distributed would pain, thumb and index finger would have dyskinesia. If stagnation of meridian-QI, it would cause spasm. If deficiency of meridian-QI, it would cause the thumb and index finger can not stretch out. If insufficiency of meridian-QI, it would cause muscle atrophy.
Season disease of meridian sinew:
April of lunar calendar is middle-summer; March and April are the combination of two Yangs in the climate. The intestine meridian is easy to run unsmooth and block, so muscle pain and spasm along the distribution area, and arm could not raise and left, and neck could not turn left or right. Indication: use fire needle to fast prick the pressure pain point of the pain area until recovery.
Note: The Large Intestine meridian sinew of Hand-Yangming has two branches. The two branches distribute the outside of this meridian circulation area, one distribute on the thoracic vertebrae through shoulder and end with stomach meridian; another form lower mandible runs upward and distribute on the distribution area of the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming " out of Daying, circulating Jiache, up to preauricula, through it, circulate hair line to forehead." These two branches are all end e with the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming, at present, it has no finding that there are some significant on this end ion.
