[Location] Localized in the erect sitting position or in the supine position, on the face, anterior to the ear, in the depression between the zygomatic arch and the condyloid process of the mandible. (Fig.42)
 
[Regional Anatomy] Skin→subcutaneous tissue→parotid→between massetert and →lateral pterygoid. Superficial layer, the branches of the auriculotemporal nerve, the zygomatic branch of the facial nerve, and the transverse facial artery and vein; deep layer, the maxillary artery and vein, facial nerve, the inferior alveolar nerve.
