Acupuncture Point Shufu (KI27)
Location:
Upright sitting or supine position; on the vertical line passing through the midpoint between mid-sternal line and midclavicular line, on the lower border of clavical.
Function:
Regulating the flow of qi, relieving asthma, and lowering the adverse flow of qi.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-greter pectoral muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the medial supraclavicular nerve, In the deep layer, there are the branches of the medial and lateral pectoral nerves.
Indications:
Bronchitis, pleuritis, intercostal neuralgia, Asthma, vomiting, abdominal distension, anorexia, and dyspnea.
Prescription:
Combined use with Zusanli (ST 36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of pulmonary emphysema; with Acupuncture Single Point Zhongwan Front-Mu Point of the Stomach) for treatment of gastritis; and with LingxuKI24 (Lingxu (KI24)), ShencangKI25 (Shencang (KI25)), Acupuncture Single Point Juque Front-Mu Point of the Heart) for the treatment of vomiting.
Methods:
Insert the needle horizontally, 0.5-0.8 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
Note:
Don't puncture deeply, or else the needle would penetrate the subclavian vein and cause bleeding, or penetrate the external intercostal membrane-the internal intercostal muscles-the costal pleura-the pleural cavity-the visceral pleura and the lung by its tip through the inferior side of subclavian vein, and cause an injury to lung, leading to pneumatothorax.
