Acupuncture Point Yinlingquan (SP9)
Location:
Upright sitting with flexed knees or supine position; on the medial side of the knee and the lower border `f the medial condyle of tibia, on a level with the lower border of the tuberosity of tibia.
Function:
strengthening the spleen and stomach, inducing diuresis, regulating menstruation, and removing the obstruction in the channels and collaterals.

Indications:
Abdominal pain and distension, Diarrhea, dysentery, Edema, jaundice, dysuria, enuresis, Incontinence of urine, pain in the external genitalia, dysmenorrhea, and pain in the knee.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-tendon of semitendinous muscle-medial head of gastrocnemius muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the medial curaneous branches of the leg from the saphenous nerve, the great saphenous vein and the branches of  the descending geniculatrartery. In the deep layer, there are the medial inferior genicular artery and vein.

Prescription:
Combined use with Acupuncture Single Point Yanglingquan He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon) for treatment of gonarthritis; with Acupuncture Single Point Guanyuan Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine) for treatment of emission and urinary retention; with Acupuncture Single Point Zhongji Front-Mu Point of the Bladder) for treatment of pelvic inflammtion and vulvitis; with Tianshu (ST25) Front-Mu Point of the Large Intestine) and Zusanli (ST 36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of acute bacillary dysentery; and with Chengshan (BL57), Jiexi (ST 41) Jing-River Point) and Taibai (SP3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Primary Point) for treatment of cholera.

Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of distension, extend towards the foot; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 10-12 min.
