Acupuncture Point Yinbai (SP1)
Location:
Upright sitting with drooping feet or supine position; at the meeting point of the line along the medial side of the nail and that along the base of the nail of the great toe.
Function:
Invigorating the spleen, dispersing coldness of the extremities and stimulating the menstrual flow during amenorrhea.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-root of nail.
There are the branches of the medial dorsal cutaneous nerve of the foot, the dorsal digital nerve and the dorsal artery and vein in this area.
Indications:
Abdominal distension, bloody stools, menorrhagia, uterine bleeding, mental disorders, dream-disturbed sleep, and convulsion.
Prescription:
Combined use with Tianshu (ST25) Front-Mu Point of the Large Intestine) and Zusanli (ST 36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of acute gastroenteritis; with Shangqiu (SP 5) Jing-Well Point) for treatment of chronic tetany. with Acupuncture Single Point Guanyuan Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine) and Sanyinjiao (SP6) for treatment of metrorrhagia; with Weizhong (BL 40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point) for treatment of epistaxis; with Yongquan (KI 1) Jing-Well Point), Lidui (ST 45) Jing-Well Point), Shaoshang (LU11)Jing-Well Point), Zhongchong (PC9) Jing-Well Point) and Shenmen (HT 7) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Primary Point) for treatment of syncope.
Methods:
Insert the needle subcutaneously 0.1-0.3 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of soreness; moxibustion: using 1-3 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 15 min.
