Acupuncture Point Diji (SP8)
Location:
Upright sitting or supine position; 3 cun vertically below YinlinquanSP9 (Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point), on the posterior border of the medial side of tibia.
Function:
Invigorating the spleen and stomach, and regulating the menstruation and leukorrhea.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-gastrocnemius muscle-soleus muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the medial cutaneous brabches of the leg from the saphenous nerve and the great saphenous vrin. In the deep layer, there are the tibial nerve and the posterior tibial artery and vein.
Indications:
Abdominal pain and distension, Diarrhea, Edema, dysuria, Nocturnal Emission, Irregular Menstruation, and dysmenorrhea.
Prescription:
Combined use with Guanyuanshu (BL 26) for treatment of menalgia; with Huiyang (BL35) for treatment of prostatitis; with Acupuncture Single Point Guanyuan Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine) for treatment of spermacrasia; with Chongmen (SP 12) for treatment of hernia, and with YinlingquanSP9 (SP9) , ShuifenCV9 (Shuifen (CV9)), YoumenKI21 (Youmen (KI21)) and Xiaochangshu (BL27) for treatment of anorexia.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 1.0-2.0 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of distension, radiating downward to the foot; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
