Acupuncture Point Kunlun (BL60)
Location:
Sit upright, hang down two shanks, with two feet touching the ground or lie pronely; at the midpoint of the line connection the tip of lateral malleolus and achilles tendon.
Function:
Tranquilizing the wind, regulating the uterus, and relaxing the muscles and tendons.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-loose connective tissue anterior to Archiiles tendon.
In the superficial layer, there are the small nerve and small saphenous vein. In the deep layer, there are the branches of the tibutarior of the peroneal artery and vein.
Indications:
Thyroid enlargment, backache, Sciatica, paralysis of the lower limbs, gonitis, ankle arthritis, beriberi, nervous headache, dizziness, apostaxis, rachitis, retention of placenta, hemorrhage due to hemorrhoid, soft tissue disease around the knee joint.
Prescription:
Combined use with NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) for treatment of angina cordis; and with XuanzhongGB39 (Xuanzhong (GB 39) Influential Point of the Marrow) for treatment of ankle arthritis.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating toward the toe; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
