Acupuncture Point Zhonglushu (BL29)
Location:
Lie pronely; at the level of the lower border of the 3rd sacral vertebrae, 1.5 cun apart from posterior median line laterally.

Function:
Strengthening lumbosacral region, and regulating the function of the lower-jiao.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-greatest gluteal muscle-sacrotuberous ligament.
In the superficial layer, there are the middle clunial nerves. In the deep layer, there are the branches or thibutaries of the superior and inferior gluteal arteries and veins and the branches of the inferior gluteal nerve.

Indications:
Pain in the lumboscaral region, Sciatica, Diabetes, Peritonitis, enteritis, and beriberi.

Prescription:
Combined use with WeizhongBL40 (Weizhong (BL40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point) for treatmen of lumbar muscle strain, lumbosacral radiculitis; with TaichongLR3 (Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) for treatmen of enterocele pain; with ChangqiangGV1 (Changqiang (GV1) Luo-Connecting Point), ShenshuBL23 (Shenshu (BL23)) for treatmen of spasm.

Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
