It is not always easy to curb hunger cravings, but when you are on a diet and are consciously cutting down calories, hunger cravings could completely ruin your case for you. A lot of people who tell you how to curb hunger will stress on the willpower and your own effort in order to remove your cravings from your mind. However, that is not always the best way to go about suppressing your hunger. At any moment, your will power may snap and you will begin to binge on foods that you tried so hard to stay away from. A more systematic approach is required to curb hunger cravings. Here are a few tips to help you curb craving for food:
Nuts
Cut your access to all harmful foods that you crave for.
Sift through your cabinets and other places where you stash your food. Remove everything which is unhealthy and which you have to avoid eating. Donuts, candies, and friend snacks are some of the foods that you should be immediately throwing out. Besides these, also throw out menus of delivery shops and pizzerias so that you would not be able to order a delivery.
Consume foods that curb hunger.
Believe it or not, there are foods that will make you feel full without piling on those calories. Munch on raw fruits and veggies so that you are fuller for a longer period and do not get any hunger pangs or cravings. Some of the food items which contain lots of fibers are fruits, nuts, salads, whole grains, and vegetables, especially the green leafy ones.
Replace red meats with lean proteins.
Lean proteins help you get rid of sugar cravings. They are also healthier as compared with red meats which are full of fats and cholesterol. When you consume lean meats, you end up eating less so that you lose more weight.
Drink plenty of water.
A lot of times we confuse our thirst with hunger. When you drink a lot of water, it temporarily satiates your hunger. This means that your hunger is curbed for the time being. However, drinking water at the time of meals is not recommended because you need your nutrition for maintaining proper health and energy reserves.
Drink vegetable juice.
Just before your meal, drink a glassful of vegetable juice. This helps you suppress your appetite. Research has found that those who drink vegetable juice before their meals consume about 135 calories less than they are used to.
