TCM Diagnosis for Constipation
Constipation--difficult or infrequent bowel movements--is one of the most common health problems associated with a pet’s digestive system. Cats usually have at least one healthy bowel movement every day. But if your cat is passing dry, hard stools, straining when trying to defecate or making unsuccessful trips to the litter box, please see your veterinarian. These symptoms may indicate an underlying health problem.
Essentials for Diagnosis
(1) Reduced bowel movements, prolonged circle of defecation, or hard stools and difficulty in emptying the bowels.
(2) Accompanied symptoms include abdominal distention, abdominal pain, poor appetite, dizziness, halitosis, anal fissure, hemorrhoid, bloody stools, sweating, shortness of breath, dizziness and palpitation.
(3) The occurrence is related to invasion of cold and heat, diet, emotions, dysfunction of zang and fu organs, lack of physical exercise, aging and weak constitution. The onset and the development are slow.
(4) Fibercoloscope and other laboratory examinations are usually helpful to the diagnosis.
