Syndrome differentiation and treatment
The main syndrome of endometriosis is blood stasis syndrome. This disease is usually sthenia at the primary stage and gradually turns into a syndrome of asthenia mingled with sthenia. Simple asthenia syndrome is seldom seen. Apart from blood stasis syndrome, other symptoms are often accompanied. Syndrome differentiation should be done in light of the time, nature and location of the symptoms; changes of menstrual cycle, quantity, color and texture; and other general symptoms in order to decide whether the syndrome is due to kidney asthenia and blood asthenia, or cold coagulation and blood stasis, or qi stagnation and blood stasis, or heat stagnation and blood stasis.

(1) Syndrome of kidney asthenia and blood stasis
Main symptoms: Abdominal pain during or after menstruation, scanty or profuse menorrhea, unsmooth menorrhea, blackish menses, or menorrhea with blood clot, aching and weak sensation in the loins and knees, blackish complexion, or accompanied by sterility, grayish tongue or tongue with ecchymosis on the tongue edge and thin and taut pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Replenishing the kidney and activating blood, resolving stasis and regulating menstruation.

(2) Syndrome of cold coagulation and blood stagnation
Main symptoms: Unpressable cold pain in lower abdomen, aggravation before or after menstruation, alleviation with warmth, even nausea, vomiting, scanty menorrhea, unsmooth menorrhea, difficulty in getting pregnant, pale complexion, aversion to cold, cold limbs, lightwhite or light-purplish tongue or tongue with ecchymosis on the tongue edge, deep and tense or deep, thin and unsmooth pulse.
Therapeutic methods:  Warming meridians to disperse cold, and resolving stasis to dredge collaterals.

(3) Syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis
Main symptoms: Unpressable lower abdominal distending pain, aggravation during or after menstruation,relative profuse menorrhea, purplish red menses, mingled with blood clot, alleviation of abdominal pain after removal of blood clot, or relative scanty menorrhea, unsmooth menorrhea, distending pain in the breasts before menstruation, chest oppression and restlessness, or mental depression, prolapsing and distending sensation in the anus, Purplish and blackish tongue or tongue with ecchymosis on the edge, taut or taut and thin pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Soothing the liver and regulating qi, resolving stasis and dredging collaterals.

(4) Syndrome of heat stagnation and blood stasis
Main symptoms: Lower abdominal pain, aggravation during menstruation, fever or even high fever during menstruation and gradual improvement after menstruation, profuse menorrhea at the beginning with red color and thick texture or with blood clot, bitter taste in the mouth and dry throat, retention of dry feces, yellowish urine and frequent urination, yellowish leukorrhea, coital pain, red tongue with thin and yellow fur, thin and rapid pulse or thin and taut pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Activating blood and resolving stasis, clearing away heat and dissipating nodules.
