Polycystic ovary syndrome is marked by asthenia of the principal aspect and sthenia of the secondary aspect. Kidney asthenia is the principal aspect, while phlegmdampness, liver depression transforming into fire, qi stagnation and blood stasis are the secondary aspect. Both aspects interact on each other. The viscera involved are the liver, spleen and kidney. The location of the disease is in the thoroughfare and conception vessels. Clinically this syndrome is divided into kidney asthenia, phlegm-dampness, liver depression transforming into fire and qi stagnation with blood stasis.
Our TCM clinical practice has showed that integration of Chinese medicine and western medicine is a very good choice for this disease. When treating polycystic ovarian syndrome, Chinese doctors will take everything into consideration, including the following conditons.
1. Excess insulin. Excess insulin might also affect the ovaries by increasing androgen production, which may interfere with the ovaries' ability to ovulate.
2. Low-grade inflammation. Your body's white blood cells produce substances to fight infection in a response called inflammation.
3. Heredity. If your mother or sister has PCOS, you might have a greater chance of having it, too.
