Key points for diagnosis
(1) At the initial stage, the affected eye suffers from the symptoms of astringing pain, photophobia, dacryorthea, which repeat and last a long time.
(2) In the pathogenic area, there is diffuse congestive edema on the outmost layer of the sclera, or local mild prominent scarlet nodules caused by infiltration in the round or elliptic shapes and of various sizes, the bulbar conjunctiva over the nodules being movable and tender to compression. The prominent nodules, which increase gradually in size, are seldom diabrotic and can be absorbed in several weeks.
(3) Usually, one eye is affected and both may be affected occasionally at the same time or one after another.
In TCM, a disease or a symptom might be caused by one pathogenic factor, even two or three pathogenic factors. When diagnosing a disease or a symptom, TCM doctors must follow the principle of "Syndrome Dfferentiation", and then "Suit the Remedy to the Case". In order to gain a more definite and valuable diagnosis, it's important and necessary for the doctor to learn the detailed health information of the patient, including his/her disease duration, age, sex, height, weight, family history, urine, stool, diet, sleep, sweat, energy, mood (emotion), as well as the tongue conditions and the palm conditions, etc. If you would want our expert to create a TCM diagnosis, you're welcome to contact us.
