Key points for diagnosis
(1) The patient has purulent nasal discharge, accompanying nasal obstruction, headache, and hyposmia, etc.

(2) The patient has fever and general discomfort.

(3) Local examination. There exist congestion of nasal mucosa with edema as well as the signs of pus in the middle nasal meatus, tenderness of the glabellum or zygomatic parts, etc.

(4) Hemogram shows elevation of white blood cells.

(5) X-ray film of the nasal sinus may assisst diagnosis.
