Effect
Strengthening the spleen and removing fullness.

Indications
Syndrome due to deficiency of the spleen, stagnancy of Qi and retention of food,

marked by fullness or distending pain in the epigastrium and abdomen, poor appetite,

or borborygmus, pale tongue with whitish slippery coaling, and weak pulse; including

such diseases with the above symptoms as gastroptosis, chronic gastritis, gastric

neurosis and indigestion.

Ingredients
Chao Zhi Shi (stir-fried Fructus Aurantii Immaturus) 30 g,
Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae (Baizhu) 60 g.

Explanation
Bai Zhu: Strengthening the spleen, removing dampness so as to assist the spleen in

transporting and transforming of food material, being administered in the amount 1

time more than Zhi Shi in order that its action of invigorating the spleen-Qi can be

enhanced.

Zhi Shi: Promoting the circulation of Qi, removing food stagnancy and fullness.

Administration
The drugs are ground into fine powder. The powder is made with water into pills. 6-9 g

of the pills is taken with warm boiled water each time, twice daily. With their

amounts properly reduced according to their original proportions, the drugs may be

decocted in water for oral use.
