Effect
Clearing away pathogenic heat and fire from the liver, descending the adverse flow of

Qi to arrest vomiting.

Indications
Syndrome due to pathogenic rire in the liver produced by stagnation of the liver-Qi

and due to attacking of the Liver-fire on the stomach, marked by distending pain in

the hypochondriac region, heart-burning, regurgitation of sour fluid, vomiting, bitter

taste in the mouth, fullness sensation in the stomach, eructation, reddened tongue

with yellowish coating, and taut rapid pulse; including such diseases with the above

symptoms as acute gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcer and nonicteric infective hepatitis.

Ingredients
Rhizoma Coptidis (Huanglian) 9 g,
Fructus Evodiae (Wuzhuyu)">Fructus Evodiae (Wuzhuyu) 1.5 g.

Explanation
Huang Lian: The principal drug, being bitter in flavor and cold in nature, removing

heat, purging fire.

Wu Zhu Yu: Being pungent in taste and hot in nature, restricting the cold nature of

Huang Lian, exerting the potency to the liver to descend the adverse flow of Qi,

promoting the coordination befween the stomach and the liver.

Decocted in water for oral dose to be taken twice (Taken originally in the form of pills)
