Painting of a Pharmacy
One of the most famous paintings in Chinese history, by Zhang Zeduan of the Song Dynasty. "Going up the River on the Spring Festival" ( Qing ming shang he tu ) vividly reflects every aspect of social life in the Northern Song capital. Long scroll, 24.8 - 528 cm. This small portion of the painting depicts a clinic and dispensary run by Zhao Taicheng. The signboard in front reads "Collected Aromatic Pellets from the authentic formula for disorders due to excessive drinking" and "Pellets for Reordering the Medial Aspect cures cold in the stomach and intestines."
