(1) Deficiency of the Spleen qi: Loose and thin stools with undigested food, increase of bowel movements after intake of greasy food, lassitude, pale tongue with thin and white coating, thready pulse.
(2) Deficiency of the Kidney-yang: Diarrhea in the morning with undigested food in the stools, cold and pain in the navel and abdomen, preferring to warm, cold body and limbs, pale and enlarged tongue with white coating, sunken and thready pulse.
(3) Disharmony between the liver and the spleen: Abdominal pain and diarrhea due to depression, anger or stress, stiffiness in the chest, anorexia, belching, light red tongue, wiry pulse.
(4) Deficiency of the Qi and Blood: Dizziness, fatigue, dysphoria with smothery sensation in the heart, abdominal distension, dry stools, defecate with difficulty in passing stools, red tongue with less and dark coating, thready and rapid pulse. (5) Blood stasis in the Intestinal vessels: Long-term diarrhea, difficult defecation, stabbing pain in the particular parts of the abdomen and which will be severer by pressing, pale complexion, dry mouth without the desire to drink, light red tongue or with petechia, wiry and unsmooth pulse.
