1) Polished glutinous rice (Semen Oryzae Glutinosae) Make pancakes with the flour of polished glutinous rice and take a right amount of it with yellow rice or millet wine at bedtime. It is used to treat frequent urination resulting from prostatic hyperplasia.
2) Semen Plantaginis (Cheqianzi) seed, Decoct 15g of it and take the decoction as a drink. It is used to treat prostatic hyperplasia marked by the type of stagnation of damp-heat.
3) Waxgourd (Fructus Benincasae) Make 1500ml of soup out of 500g of waxgourd and take it in three separate doses. It is applicable to prostatic hyperplasia marked, by the type of stagnation of damp-heat.
4) Towel gourd (Fructus Luffae) Grind it into powder after being burned but nature-retaining old towel gourd, which is, to be taken with warm boiled water, 5 to 10g each time. Its indications are the same as those of waxgourd.
5) River snail (Cipangopaludina Chinensis) It is to be eaten boiled. Its indications are the same as those of waxgourd.
Composite Medicated Diet
1) Gruel of Bark of Cinnamon (Guixin Zhou)
INGREDIENTS:
Polished rice, Semen Oryzae Sativae, 60g
Powder of bark of cinnamon, Ramulus Cinnamomi (Guizhi)
PROCESS: Make gruel with the rice. When it is half done, put in the powder of bark of cinnamon (5g each day) and mix them well.
DIRECTIONS: To be taken in two separate doses.
2) Kidneys Stewed with Eucommia Bark (Duzhong ao-hua)
INGREDIENTS:
Sheep kidney (or pork kidney), 2
Eucommia bark, Cortex Eucommiae (Duzhong), 5g
Ginger, Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens(right amount)
Green Chinese onion, Bulbus Allii Fistulosi(right amount)
Table salt, right amount
PROCESS: Cut the kidneys open, get rid of the membrance; then stew them together with all the other ingredients until the kidneys are done.
DIRECTIONS: The kidneys are to be eaten.
3) Chinese Chive Gruel (Jiucai Zhou)
INGREDIENTS:
Chinese chive, Herba Allii Tuberosi
Polished rice, Semen Oryzae Sativae
PROCESS: AND DIRECTIONS Make gruel with them for eating.
4) Chestnut Gruel (Lizi Zhou)
INGREDIENTS:
Chestnut, Castanea
Polished rice, Semen Oryzae Sativae
PROCESS AND DIRECTIONS: Make gruel with them for eating.
5)Decoction of Aniseed and Chinese Green Onion (Hui-xiang Congbai jian)
Aniseed, Fructus Foeniculi (Xiaohuixiang), 5g
Chinese green onion, Bulbus Allii Fistulosi, 4
PROCESS AND DIRECTIONS: Pound them together and decoct them for oral administration. To be taken in three separate doses.
Any of the above recipes can be chosen to treat prostatic hyperplasia marked by deficiency-cold of the lower-jiao.
6) Gruel of Red Phaseolus Bean (Chixiaodou Zhou)
INGREDIENTS:
Red phaseolus bean, Semen Phaseoli
Polished rice, Semen Oryzae Sativae
PROCESS AND DIRECTIONS: Make gruel with equal amount of the ingredients; they must be well-done. The gruel is to be eaten.
7) Lophatherum Gruel (Zhuye Zhou)
INGREDIENTS:
Lophatherum, Herba Lophatheri
Polished rice, Semen Oryzae Sativae
PROCESS AND DIRECTIONS: Make gruel with them. To be taken orally.
8) Mung Bean Gruel (Oingxiaodou Zhou)
INGREDIENTS:
Mung bean, Semen Phaseoli Radiati, 80g
Wheat, Fructus Tritici, 50g
Ricepaper pith, Medulla Tetrapanacis, 10g
PROCESS: Decoct the last ingredient in water and remove the dregs, and then make gruel with the decoction and the first two ingredients.
DIRECTIONS: To be taken as breakfast.
9) Gruel of Job's-Tears and Bush-Cherry Seed (Yimi Yuliren Zhou)
INGREDIENTS:
Job's-tears seed, Semen Colds
Bush-cherry seed, Semen Pruni
