Character of the tongue: The tongue is sallowish and bright and the fur is completely peeled like a mirror.
Clinical significance: It indicates extreme exhaustion of blood, collapse of the stomach qi, or serious and intractable diseases.
The presence, growth and peeling of the tongue fur can not only estimate stomach qi and stomach yin, but also can reflect the conditions of pathogenic factors and healthy qi, judge the prognosis of diseases. Peeled tongue fur indicates gradual weakness of healthy qi. Recovered thin fur manifests declined pathogenic factors and rising healthy qi, which is a favourable sign of recovered stomach qi.
