1. Flexing-Wrenching Knee
The patient is in the supine position. The practitioner suppofls the suffered knee with one hand,holds the ankle with the other hand to force the knee joint to be gradually flexed to its painful barrier position; then makes a sudden and controlled movement to expand the flexion range in 3 to 5 degrees. This manipulation is applicable to the treatment of the effusion of the suprapatellar bursa and the adhesion syndrome of the pefigenu articulatio (Fig 278).
2. Extending-Wrenching Knee
Both the patient’s position and the practitioner's posture are the same as the above. The practitioner stretches the suffered knee joint to its painful barrier position, then expands the extension range of the knee 3 to 5 degrees suddenly and controlled with one band thrusting the knee down and the other hand wrenching the ankle up. 3. Wrenching Knee
relieve the local pain and muscle contraction at first. Then the practitioner holds the ankle with one hand to flex the knee to the painful barrier position while rolling the dimples beneath patella continually with the other hand, then thrusts suddenly and controllablv to expand the flexion range 3 to 5 degrees and loosens the knee immediately The above movments are repeated 3 to 5 times (Fig 281).
Later off, the patient lies in the prone position with a soft pillow under his knee.Then the practitioner applies rolling on the popliteal fossa with one hand,holds the ankle with the other hand to extend the knee to its painful barrier position gradually, then makes a sudden and controlled thrust to expand the extension range of the knee 3 to 5 degrees, loosens the knee immediately. Repeat the above movements 3 to 5 times (Fig 282). The manipulation is applicable to the treatment of the knee pain,the effusion of the genuarticular cavity as well as the restricted flexion extension of the knee.
