Conception vessel starts from the urinary bladder (uterus, ovary) in women and starts from testis in men, diverging from two branches, the first branch runs backward and ascends from belly cavity along abdomen side of spine to thoracic vertebrae. The second branch starts from uterus or testis and is distributed in genitalia, its main trunk runs upward from genitalia, passes anterior side of pubis along abdominal wall and goes umbilicus to chest, embranchment is distributed in heart, main line ascends to anterior aspect of neck and goes to throat along trachea, passes through hypoglossis then curves around mandible and is distributed in lip, it connects governor vessel at Renzhong (GV 26) acupoint.

Conception vessel diverges from two branches at Chengjiang (Ren 24) acupoint which is at mandible, it curves around angle of mouth and ascends to lower aspect of fossa orbitalis then enters into fossa orbitalis and is distributed in eyeball.

Collateral of conception vessel starts below ensiform process of sternum and descends along anterior wall of abdomen then is distributed in superior belly.
